The Bridge at Alum Cave is the beginning of the Trailhead to Mt. LeConte. Alum Cave was a mine for gunpowder during the Civil War. The last battle between the white man and Indians was fought there, ironically, the Indians were slaves for the Union Army and fought against the Confederacy.

Appalachian Tail Story

Before, with Determination. The plan was to go from Max Patch to Hot Springs in North Carolina, but alas, as we left Max Patch in a blizzard,  we could not see the trail or the markers, thus going around and around in circles. The next weekend, we spent enjoyable hours in the hotubs, and also enjoyed the pleasure of our campers in wonderful sunshine.
